Circular Innovation Hub, in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation and Digital Opportunity Trust, is implementing an initiative to empower unemployed youth and women in Kenya’s informal settlements. The project equips participants with practical skills in textile upcycling, sewing, and sustainable product development, alongside entrepreneurship and business training.
The program targets 150 young people (with at least 60% being women), offering access to shared production facilities, mentorship, and market opportunities through pop-up shops and digital platforms.
The initiative’s overarching goal is to reduce textile waste, create green employment opportunities, and foster a thriving circular textile economy in Kenya, transforming waste into value and supporting the country’s transition toward a sustainable circular economy.
